What is ReCaNet ?

A project to promote Regenerative Agriculture, conceived as a data exchange network between farmers. The more learning we share, the more knowledge we generate: it´s a win-win.

A tool to monetize the positive externalities of good agriculture. Catching carbon, decontaminating, improving the water cycle and increasing biodiversity; If, beyond agricultural yields, benefits are generated for all, these must be compensated through fair environmental credit mechanisms (solidarity payment to solidarity benefit).

A platform of technological services for agricultural exploitation that allow optimizing operations, both in the field and in the office. Remote sensing, IoT, Biotechnology, Big Data, IA; all in one integrated solution.

FORESTRY AND AGRICULTURAL ENGINEER

Expert in innovation and technology transfer in agriculture. I am a person at the service of people. 

Measure, understand, decide and act; that is my way of understanding agriculture, focusing on natural mechanisms, without giving up any other essential resource. High technology to help soils and vegetation to understand each other and to produce in the most efficient way possible, as close as possible to how they would do it without our interference, without taking our eyes off the profitability of operations or long-term sustainability.

Pablo Ortigueira

AGRICULTURAL ENGINEER, OENOLOGIST AND ELAIOLOGIST.

Technical exploitation advisor; I help the farms obtain the maximum potential through technical, economic, strategic and human management.

As a pioneer of Regenerative Agriculture, with each step forward I take, I become more aware of the enormous challenge facing all of us who are involved in food production. Professional excellence is achieved when high technical skills go hand in hand with high human skills. Excellence in agriculture is achieved when good productions and profitability go hand in hand with sustainability and a deep respect for life.

Broad spectrum engineer, with an overall vision and a focus on diagnosis and a clear identification of the difficulties and challenges to be faced in each project. My strength is in weaving, finding synergies, promoting understanding and achieving fluency in all areas. My mission is to achieve a balance between resources and results, between effectiveness and efficiency, between rigor and passion.

Passion for rigor, metrics and good solutions, as robust and consistent as simple ones. I practice engineering as a service to a more prosperous society. Without a doubt, we live in times as complex as they are exciting, in which we have to develop creative solutions to return to balance soon. We have enough science and technology to achieve it, we just need a little more understanding; I provide human engineering.

¿HOW DO WE WORK?

Monitoring and Evaluation of crops and soil, continuous record.

- Remote Sensing (Satellite, Drone, Smartphone, ...) from any type of camera or sensor and platform, determining the state of the vegetation and its evolution.
- IoT using micro meteorological stations, soil probes, and instrumentation (vegetation sensors, conductivity meters, etc.) to quantify the state and evolution of soils and their covers.
- Soil Metagenomics to identify, quantify and understand how the underground allies of vegetation are and to promote their regeneration and the functionalities of microbiology.
- Continuous and Automated Record of Operations (logbook of exploitation), with traceability of product transactions, computation of environmental footprints (carbon, water) and equity in the value chain, with Blockchain settlements for public / private consultation.

Diagnosis and Recommendations

- Artificial Intelligence for the massive analysis of images and data, interpretation of results and automated learning, which facilitates the understanding of the systems and the anticipation, to give support to the making of correct and efficient decisions.
- From the Big Data to the Small Info, synthesizing vast amounts of information in reports with a simplified and intuitive interpretation that facilitates the implementation of operations.
- Professional Social Network of Agriculture, in which agronomic information is shared for a massive and combined analysis of all the information generated, to build robust cause-effect models for each management, accelerating the generation of knowledge and the identification of practices most suitable for each scenario.

Acting and Operation

Aplication of Directed Microbiology, autochthonous or exogenous, selected based on the specific functionalities to be promoted in each plot and stand; nutrition, health, resilience.
Operation management:
- Harvest Optimization; advance estimates of quantity and quality, logistics organization (determination of optimal dates and prioritization of batches).
- Application of reasoned inputs with adjusted and variable dosages per plot and or stand.
- Irrigation adjusted to the needs and objectives of each phase and quantified needs of the crop.
Circular management and efficient treatment of crop residues and agribusiness by-products , essentially oriented towards the nutrition and regeneration of soils. Optimized topographic design (Keyline) to maximize infiltration and optimal distribution of surface water.
